In Yantai China at the recent Wine and Food Exposition Doctor Serena Friedman,
of Four Sisters Ranch-Serena's Vineyard in Paso Robles, California, spoke on the
"Culture of Wine-Why Wine- It's Health Benefits."
Highlights of the talk touched on the cardiovascular benefits of red wine in reducing heart attacks and strokes, extending life spans, reduction in certain types
of cancers such as prostate, colon cancers, lung cancers and even reduction of gall stones.
A lenghty discussion of the anti-oxidants, quercetin, resveratrol, catechins, and flavonoids in wine, the benefit to Diabetics, reduction in cataract risk, and reduced risk of senile dementia were highlighted in her talk.
She pointed out that in 2004 in the Guinness Book of Records
the longest living man and woman had each consumed a glass of red wine daily! Cheers....
